The function of Air-Con Condensers is to change gas to a liquid, expelling heat from the vehicle. The condenser unit is positioned at the front of the vehicle making it prone to damage from impact, corrosion and the elements. This damage can cause leaking and the loss of refrigerant.
Condenser failure is the most frequent cause of an air conditioning problem.
How to check for Air-Con Condenser failure:
- Dark oily patches on the surface
PAG Oil circulates with the refrigerant in the system, therefore, some of this oil is deposited at the point of failure. - Vehicle does not get cold when air conditioning is operated
Refrigerant will leak from the point of failure. - Detection of UV dye
When we re-gas an air conditioning system, we always add a UV dye which can be detected by UV light. This allows us to detect a leak in the system.
